Excellent in the border or a tub, or even in the conservatory. Best grown partly shaded to bring out the best foliage colors. When small it makes a delightful house plant, but give it plenty of light. Medium height (1.5m). Our stock is totally healthy, unlike most stock sold elsewhere which is commonly infected with virus disease which disfigures the foliage. plant (3m+) with narrow powder-green leaves variously splashed and
streaked with cream. Small apricot flowers carried very high above the
foliage. This is a very variable plant. Sometimes
leaves
are almost totally white, and sometimes they are almost all green.
Occasionally a shoot will be totally white, but then it will
die
through lack of chlorophyl. Always, in maturity, some white
stripes turn brown, but by then the plant is so majestic that it
doesn't matter. Amazingly prolific in good soil with rhizomes
that can exceed 30cm in length, and have a habit of popping up some
distance from the parent plant. |
